Energy Monitoring

With rising energy costs, decisions relating to energy conservation are even more crucial to financial health.

Cancoppas can help facility operators and energy managers to implement energy management systems (EMS) that provide actionable data.

An initial objective of implementing EMS can be simply to establish a baseline.  A baseline is a key set of data that characterizes the initial energy performance of a facility.  It is very common that facilities have been operating for years without any tracking of energy performance.

For a modest initial investment in equipment, it is possible to establish a baseline, start doing real time energy monitoring, and quickly discover surprising aspects of energy performance that can lead to some immediate actionable savings.  As savings accrue, additional metering/monitoring equipment can be installed by Cancoppas to provide deeper insight into energy use to allow further savings. This approach helps mitigate risk.

A typical initial project could be:

Other aspects of energy/resource monitoring can be part of the initial project or part of a phase 2 project:

  • Water monitoring
  • Gas metering/monitoring
  • Submetering  including at the motor/machine level

Water and gas monitoring can be accomplished using a NetMeter-OMNI to capture and datalog pulses and/or current loop outputs from water/gas flow meters.
