The MicroTREK guided microwave level transmitter is designed for continuous level measuring of conductive or nonconductive liquids, pulps and solids.

MicroTREK level gauge operates based on the well known TDR (Time DomainReflectometry) principle. Micropulses are sent along a probe guide at the speed of light. As soon as the pulse reaches the surface of the medium, it is reflected back to the electronic module. Level distance is directly proportional to the flight time of the pulse.

The reflected signal is dependent on the dielectric constant of the material, the feasibility of the measurement is εr 1,4. The TDR technology is unaffected by the properties of the medium as well as that of the space above it.

Measurement is also unaffected by the change in the physical properties of the materials such as temperature, pressure, dielectric constant.


  • Suggested applications:Measurement of steaming liquids or dusty solids in high tanks with relative small diameter
  • Measurable mediums:Electrically conductive or non-conductive (liquids, free-flowing solids) materials with min. ε>1.4 dielectric constant
  • Advantages:Accurate measurement of steaming or foaming materials
  • Special applications:High pressure, high temperature applications
  • Application restrictions:Abrasive materials shorten the life time of the cable probe. Liquid hydrogen, helium and ammonia cannot be measured

  • Output versions:2-wire compact transmitter with 4…20 mA and HART communication
  • Adjustment, programming:With local display/programmer module, remote HART programming
  • Mounting:On top of the tank. The rod or cable probe are immersed into the medium to be measured. The instrument should be ordered with the required probe length
